This story happens in three parts. Part one is before Rumi, Kinny, and Kaoru take off for the Crested village for the first time. Part two happens between the time they go back to the village after Remus attacks them, and before they take off for the second time. Part three is during the fight where Rumiko joins Remus and faces off with Kinaga and Kaoru.


PART ONE

Rumiko started home from after Kinaga and his talk. It was always good to see his sensei. Or atleast that was what he though until he got home and there sat Remus on his couch with the ugliest grin on his face. Rumiko's heart started to pound in his chest and he closed the door behind him.

"Hello Rumiko," Remus said.

Rumiko didn't answer. Why was this man in his house? Why couldn't he leave him alone? Didn't he get enough when Kinaga and Felix kicked his ass at the shop that day? Rumiko swallowed as Remus greeted him again. "Why are you?" Rumiko asked cutting him off.

Remus didn't looked very happy. "You are a rude brat," he said. "I'm here on my own account. I want you to do a job for me," he said. His eyes glistening with evil. "And if you say no, believe me Rumiko, you're regret it for the rest of your life."

Rumiko stepped back. "What do you want?"

"I want you to kill Kinaga Unabara."

The words seemed to ring in his head forever. "Kill Kinaga?" Rumiko would never dream of killing his own sensei, NEVER! But little did he know that that never would soon become a task that he would take on.

"Yes, I want him out of my way. I'm sure you're strong enough. Afterall, you survived the attack when Kasey and Marcus could not." Remus said.

Rumiko's heart ached. Why'd the bastard have to go and bring that up. And wasn't it just a few days ago that he was calling Rumiko weak. This guy needed to really make up his mind. "Leave me alone, I'm not doing your dirty work."

Remus gave a laugh. "Oh but you will Rumiko, you will."

Rumiko shook his head. "No, I will not. I'm not your pet. You can't just tell me to do something and I do it. It doesn't work like that."

Remus was tiring of Rumiko, so he took a different approach. "Rumiko, do you know why I gave you up as my student?"

"Cuz you're a freakin sociopath..."

Remus shook his head. "No, because I wanted Kinaga to suffer. I killed his girl after he killed mine," he said. "Simple as that. But it wasn't enough. I wanted to make him suffer, and so I did the next best thing. I used you." He said pointing at Rumiko. "I practically gave him to you. You were already torn after your teammates death and he's such a softy that I couldn't help myself. You two easily became friends, and now look, he'll never suspect a betrayal from you."

Rumiko felt played. Remus was too smart for his own good, but the guy didn't know how to use his brains.

"So Rumiko, tell me, you up for it?"

Rumiko looked at the guy for a long moment. "You wish. Get out of my house!"

Remus stood up. "Alright," he said. "I'll leave. Just know you'll regret the day you crossed Hisoya Remus."

Rumiko slammed the door behind his former sensei. "Damnit!" He sat on the couch. Why did he have to put up with his? What was he going to tell Kinaga tomorrow? He couldn't tell him that Remus was coming back, but if he didn't what would be the consequences? Rumiko's shoulders slumped as he starred at the floor. "Just what can I do?"

PART TWO

Rumiko was exhuasted. They'd been through hell. Remus had showed his ugly face and was not kidding when he meant to kill Kinaga. Kaoru had learned out that Kinaga was her father and everything had went to hell in a hand basket, but that was nothing compared to what had happened. To what Kinaga and Kaoru didn't hear.

Rumiko shook as he walked home. Why? Why did I do it? Why did I let him live? Rumiko knew the answer, he just didn't want to believe it. Remus was still alive. Rumiko had made it seem like he'd kill him with the Black Sage, but it was a lie. But Kinaga didn't know that, and neither did Kaoru.

Remus's voice ringed in Rumiko's ears: You think I'll go out like that? Please spare me. You think I'd die just like that? You think I'd go without taking someone with me, oh please Rumiko. Get a brain. I've got Kaoru's life in the palm of my hands. If I die, so does she.

It wasn't whether Rumiko would by it or not because it was true, and later on he'd realize it. That was why he hadn't killed Remus. He cared too much for his sensei to have his only daughter die so soon after meeting her. He wouldn't allow it. But now he head to fix it.
